Medical Device Design
It is always good when our staff participate in national events, and we are pleased to announce that our Managing Director, Greg Thay, co-presented a workshop for the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF) on Medical Device Design. Greg co-presented the one-day workshop with Robin Ellis (Red-Design Ergonomics) and James MacKrill (Dyson School of Design) on the front end of the Usability Engineering process. In the one-day workshop, the early elements of the Usability Engineering process were presented and delegates had the opportunity to practice key parts including Usability Risk Assessment, Use-case Scenarios and Concept design prototyping. The focus was on encouraging the use of the Usability Engineering process, as detailed in the IEC regulated standard IEC62366-1:2015, and the best practices of early stage medical device prototyping as taught at the Dyson School of Design. The feedback from the one-day workshop has been very positive with participants interacting with the tasks presented on the day. It is early days but there are already discussions for a further in depth workshop on the Usability Engineering process. Watch this space for further details.Medical device design methods are changing rapidly, and here at THAY Medical, we like to practice the latest methods that produce the safest and most usable medical devices. We are passionate about giving the medical device concept the best chance of success from the start. Engaging with medical device developers at the earliest stage possible and using the best global practices in Usability Engineering should enable very safe, and very usable medical devices, proven when the design reaches a stage of verification and validation. If you have any questions or would like to know more information, please do not hesitate to contact THAY Medical. We would love to hear from you.The staff at THAY Medical
